I'm Back!

Well, sort of... Thank you to those of you who have written to me in the last month inquiring how I’m doing. I appreciate your concern and value your friendship.

Just before Thanksgiving I came down with bronchitis induced by an allergy. Bummer! And not the best time to be sick either. I was sick for about 3 weeks and hadn’t been in my sewing studio during that time… Resulting in missing my Round Robin Challenge deadline of December 5th. As if this wasn’t enough to deal with, a very close friend of ours had a heart attack on December 8th and has not regained consciousness. We’ve been traveling about 150 miles, roundtrip, several times a week to provide support for his wife. He’s been moved to a long-term acute care hospital and we still don’t know what his prognosis is, but we’re praying and hoping he will recover.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas spent with family and friends. I will be continuing my posts after the first of January.

I wish all of you a belated Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with the love of family and friends, enough happiness to fill each day with a warmth and glow in your heart, and many hours of enjoyment sharing your quilting, sewing, needlework, or whatever you enjoy doing to express your creativity.

BTW, if you're interested, Alex Anderson is offering twelve free redwork designs until January 5th. Each design features a different flower. Go to her site and download your twelve designs before they are removed. See you next year!

Glad you are feeling better - and how nice that you can spend some time giving support to your friend, though I know that is hard to do.

Looking forward to more posts from you - they are always fun. I haven't met my deadline for the challenge either - one of these days. :-)

Yes, Dena, we are so glad to have you back - hope it will be just "up and on" now as we are facing a new year full of adventures.

I am sooo very sorry about your friends. Has to be such a comfort to her to have you keeping an eye on her.

In 72 my DH was burnt in a chemical explosion at his work. We are from a small town and they shipped him off to a biger city burn ward. I hitched a ride with a friend for the 4 hour ride. They told me later that they would not let me ride in the ambulance with him because he was suppose to die in route and he did , but this wonderful doctor rode with him and was able to get him breathing again.

I was definitely a lost soul with only love as my guiding influence. We had met a nice couple , our own ages about a week earlier. They came several times all the way to Richmond, VA. Then one visit - he told me that he did not think he could live a week without his week-but he was giving her to me for a week. She was an angel and she even saved my life one night . The hospital was on one side of the street and a nurses dorm was across the street and there was a tunnel under the ground linking the two. We two were walking back late one night and all of a sudden she like to yanked my teeth out as she grabbed me and scooted me back to the hospital. It turned out she had seen a man slightly out of my sight in a curve and he had a knife waiting. I was really scared. Thank goodness God sent angels to watch over me.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year and all the year that follows.

I LOVE your site! And thanks for having a link to Alex Anderson's site. I think my MIL will like the flower designs. She's a quilter. :-)

Hi Dena,

I just noticed you have Lenka on your playlist. I have been playing Lenka non-stop in my car ever since I discovered her music on iTunes and Grey's Anatomy (they used "Trouble is a Friend" in one episode and I really liked it and I don't normally pay attention to the music that they use on Grey's). Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you have great taste in music!

Bronchitis will knock the stuffing out of you, Dena, so you need rest to recuperate. I would hate to be away from quilting that long!
