I've Received My Friendship Bag!

I received my friendship bag from my swap partner Cynthia. I love all the bright colors and I know the fat quarters she included will work nicely in one of my projects. Cynthia lives in North Caroline and is the grandmother of two. She's new to quilting but I think she did an awesome job on her first friendship bag. Thank you Cynthia!

My Swap Partner Has Received Her Friendship Bag

I received a wonderful email for my Friendship Bag Swap partner, Mariana announcing she has received her friendship bag with all the contents. Mariana lives in Portugal with her daughter Mafalda and is the author of a wonderful blog, Mae da Mafaldinna, where she writes about her life with Mafalda and her quilting. She does beautiful work. Be sure to visit her blog and browse abit. Although it is written in Portuguese, it is also translated into English.

In The Mail

and off to my Friendship Bag Swap recipient...

I filled the friendship bag with eight fat-eighths Batik prints, a spool of Robison-Anton variegated thread, and some coasters I made. I love the yummy colors of the Batik prints!

The recipient of my friendship bag has a young daughter and they recently moved into a new home where she now has her own bedroom. I made this doorknob hanger for her. It should go nicely with the bright, vibrant colors of her bedroom. (The edges of the hanger were still a little damp when I took the picture so the edges look a little funky in the picture.)

Here is the friendship bag, filled to its top with goodies. The doorknob hanger is too big, but will be included in the package.

I’ve enjoyed this swap, especially coming up with ideas of what to fill it with. These would make great gifts for random acts of kindness too…

Friendship Bag Swap

I'm participating in a Friendship Bag Swap coordinated by Mishka at Quilting Gallery. There are 26 countries and 41 states that make-up the 288 participants. Although I don't have to mail my friendship bag until October 6th, I wanted to get it mailed sooner because the recipient lives outside of the United States and I'm not sure how long it will take for it to be delivered.

Here is my completed friendship bag. I used a pattern featured on Moda Bake Shop, called Charmed Gift Bag. I modified the pattern slightly so the bag is more of a box shape because I will be adding some goodies in the bag before I mail it. I love how it turned out.

Here is a look inside the bag. The insert allows the bag to sit upright. I hope the recipient likes it.

Friendship Bag Swap

One of the authors of a blog, Tonya's Sewing Room, I follow featured a fun swap and I thought it would be exciting to participate. The swap is titled Friendship Bag Swap and each participant will make a bag to send to one of the other participants while receiving a bag from someone else. Sound like fun? Go to the Quilt Gallery site to learn more about the Friendship Bag Swap. Maybe we’ll be making friendship bags for each other.
